Spiritual Overlap: February 18, 2026

Introduction

Christians and Muslims are start at the exact day of Lenten and Ramadan, respectively. Both are start on February 18, 2026.

Lent and Ramadan began on the exact same day: Wednesday, February 18. This rare alignment happens roughly once every 33 years because the Islamic calendar is lunar-based (approximately 354 days), while the Christian calendar (Gregorian) is solar-based (365 days). While both seasons involve fasting, prayer, and almsgiving, their practices and origins differ significantly, see on my previous articles: "RAMANDAN: The Muslim's Holiest Month", "LENTEN: THE 40 SOLEMN CHRISTIAN SEASON DAYS", "GREGORIAN CALENDAR", and "Islamic Calendar" in this website.

Historical and Future Overlaps

Significant overlaps occurred in the early 1990s and most recently in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Following the current cycle (2025–2027), the two seasons are not expected to overlap again until the late 2050s. For those observing, religious leaders often view these convergences as a "grace-filled" opportunity for interfaith solidarity and shared focus on peace and compassion.
