CHAPTERS AND VERSES VS. READER'S BIBLE
Just imagine there's no bible verses, you think that you try to read in normal book? Yes, you can read the sacred text or bible without divisions, like in my comment in a post by Bro Mel Apologist in December 2, 2025, which he replied that it's not original in the bible chapters and verses and more deepening literary appreciation if it had no numerical divisions.

Before the 13th century, Bibles were divided into various inconsistent sections, such as the Greek kephalaia. Around 1244–1248, Cardinal Hugo de Sancto Caro(also known as Hugh of Saint-Cher) divided the Latin Vulgate into chapters to facilitate the creation of the first Bible concordance. Because modern numbered verses did not exist yet, Hugo further subdivided his chapters using the letters A, B, C, D, E, F, and G placed in the margins at equal intervals to help readers locate specific passages. While Hugo is often credited with "first" dividing the Bible into chapters in a practical sense, his system was one of two major competing schemas of the 13th century.
Modern chapter divisions are primarily credited to Stephen Langton, an English cleric and professor at the University of Paris who later became the Archbishop of Canterbury. Langton developed this system in the early 13th century (approx. 1205–1227). His divisions were first used in the Latin Vulgate and became the standard due to their use in university settings. This was the first English Bible to adopt Langton's chapter pattern is the Wycliffe's Bible(1382).
While ancient Hebrew scribes (the Masoretes) had used markers to denote "verses" for reading cycles, these did not use the numbering system found today. Rabbi Isaac Nathan ben Kalonymus (c. 1440), created a verse numbering system for the Hebrew Old Testament to aid in creating a concordance.
Santes Pagnini is credited with being the first person to divide the biblical text into numbered verses in a printed Bible. His translation, Veteris et novi Testamenti nova translatio, published in 1528, was the first to use this systematic numbering. His system for those books was later replaced by the one developed by Robert Estienne (also known as Robertus Stephanus) (1551/1555), a French printer who divided the New Testament into numbered verses in 1551. According to his son, Estienne performed this task while traveling between Paris and Lyon. In 1555, he published a Latin Vulgate that was the first complete Bible to integrate verse numbers directly into the text.
Geneva Bible (1560) was the first English Bible to use both the modern chapter and verse divisions for the entire text.
Reader's Bible
Bible Reader's Editions are designed to strip away centuries of "clutter"—specifically verse numbers, chapter headings, and footnotes—to replicate the immersive experience of reading the original manuscripts. These mimic original manuscripts, includes Removal of Numerical Divisions and No Section Headings
Several Bible editions are formatted like a normal book, known as Reader's Bibles. They feature a single-column layout, paragraph breaks, and remove chapter and verse numbers from the main text to facilitate a smooth, uninterrupted reading experience. The editions include: "ESV Reader's Bible", "Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience (NLT)", "KJV Reader's Bible", "CSB Reader's Bible", and ""NIV, The Books of the Bible"
